ABCD to Hold Second Financial Health Check-up

Free workshops focus on credit, money management
ABCD’s second “Financial Health Check-up” will take place Saturday, March 21 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the third floor of ABCD’s downtown offices at 178 Tremont St, Boston.
  • In addition, IRS certified tax preparers will be available to provide free tax preparation and filing for the Earned Income Tax Credit to eligible families.

  • One on One credit advising and Health Screenings will be provided.

  • Lunch is provided. Space is limited. Register online or call 617-348.6588.

Workshops offered throughout the day include:

  • Money Management Basics: Start at the beginning. Stop living paycheck to paycheck.
  • Credit Basics: What is a credit score? Find out what this all-important financial factor can affect every aspect of your life. Learn how to repair and build your credit.
  • Mortgages: Home buying can be scary. This workshop will help take the mystery out of mortgages. Let us show you how to find the mortgage that is right for you.
  • Youth and Money: A workshop specially designed for teens. This teaches important money management skills that apply specifically to youth.
  • Investments: Make your money work for you! Learn the basics of solid investing.
  • Employment Strategies for Youth 14-21: ABCD Youth Explorations will offer a workshop on employment opportunities for youth in the City of Boston . The workshop will target employment strategies, resources and program options for youth ages 14-21. Participants will receive a packet of information and helpful tips towards employment programs ABCD has to offer as well as options throughout the city. As an added feature, youth and families will also have an opportunity to get an application for this year's SummerWorks program at the workshop.
  • Career Planning: This workshop will explore a direct course of action for resume writing, interviewing techniques and job searching in today’s economy
    Funding Education: Higher education can sometimes seem out of reach, but it may be a lot closer than you think. Find out how to get on the path to a brighter future at this workshop.
